The prophet Isaiah - Isaiah 1-33

The prophet Isaiah offered words of hope to the people in exile. Their time of trouble and sadness would not last forever. God would be a light in the dark, sheltering and protecting them in their sorrow. God would wipe away their tears and bring them home rejoicing. The broken place would be rebuilt. Isaiah envisioned a world where even predator and prey would rest together in peace.

  • Imagine all animals playing and eating and resting together
  • Imagine eating a special dinner with all your friends and family. I wonder who would be there.
  • What happy songs do you like to sing?

Shadrach,Meshach and Abednego - Daniel 3

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon made a golden statue and ordered all his officials to come and bow down to it. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused. The king was furious and ordered them to be thrown into a flaming furnace. Nebuchadnezzar was astonished when he saw four figures walking around untouched by the fire. He called Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego out of the furnace and ordered everyone in the kingdom to respect the God of the Israelites.
