Who are we?

We are a group of people working together at being and doing church in a spirit of creativity and welcome.

The Gathering is a community for people who want to be seen and invited to participate in the Christian life of discipleship. Whether it is our small groups, snack attack food program, monthly community suppers, hospitality or Kids Corner programs; there are plenty of ways to become involved! You might be checking church out for the first time, or coming back after a long time away. Whatever your reason, you will revieve a welcome at The Gathering, and find a safe place to grow in your faith.

Come experience God at work in the life of the church, and realize how He is already at work in you!

Our Mission

Making Jesus real to people, inviting them to follow.

Our Vision

We desire to be a welcoming church with a passion to develop in faith together, and a love of serving others.

Behind the Name (Values)

We have organized the values important to our church in an acrostic which spells out Gathering.

Gathered. We believe we can do things together that cannot happen alone. We believe isolation operates in human lives to separate us from others.(Matthew 19:20; Acts 2:1-14)

Authenticity. We are real with God. (Psalm 51) We strive to "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15), with each other, and live lives of integrity around how we speak and live with others.

Teamwork. Every believer is created for ministry, valued for ministry, authorized for ministry, and needed for ministry. All are invited, through their gifts to be of service to others. We value doing things in teams rather than alone. (1 Cor 12; Romans 12; Ephesians 4:7-16)

Hospitality. Every piece of the church's life is invitational. No part of it exists more as a mission than other parts. The way we do all of church together is hospitable in its nature. Our core area of hospitality is our small group ministry. (Acts 2:46,47)

Excellence. We try to put forth our best efforts. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Relevance. We believe the way we do church, the forms we communicate with, are an essential part of communicating to those we are trying to engage with the gospel. (1 Corinthians 9:22,23)

Invitational. All our life as a church body is invitational. We are doing this out of a love of God, and a desire to reach others with the good news of Jesus. (Matthew 28:16-20; John 1:46)

New life in Jesus. The goal of our life together is a transformed life lived under the leadership of Jesus, and striving to do so in every area of life. Out of this relationship flows the fruits of the spirit of God (Galatians 5:22), and service to others. This new life is made evident through growing into the character of Jesus by studying the Bible and seeking to apply its teaching to one's life, and through regular times of prayer (2 Corinthians 5:17,18)

Gift oriented ministry. When we are connected to ministry at the point of the unique gifts God has given to each one of us, it brings life to us, and life for others as well. (Romans 12:1; 1 Corinthians 12, 14; Ephesians 4)
