This is the fifth message in our fall series on the church. It explores the 'where' of church; where the church might be called to adapt and 'contextualize' to a rapidly changing world.
This morning we are looking at the Where of Church, as in where is the church going? How does the church need to continually be shifting and adapting to a changing world? Which brings up other questions, like, why does the church need to keep changing at all, haven’t we figured out how to do and be church after 2000 years of trying? Shouldn’t we just try to go back to the good old days?
Questions for Reflection/Discussion
1. Your Christianity, and mine, is at least partly influenced by the culture in which we live. Do you agree or disagree with this statement from the message? In what ways do you think your Christianity has been influenced by your culture?
2. Galations 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Do you think that we have arrived at this vision of Paul's for the Church? If not, where do you think we still need to grow up into full maturity?
3. Steve quoted Erwin McManus saying: "The choices you make today create the future you will live tomorrow. You just should be thankful that God is also choosing, and overriding a lot of our destructive choices." What are you thankful that God chose to override in your life? What is maybe one choice you could make today to help create the future you want to live in?
