Greetings Gathering Church Family!
I wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update on where we find ourselves financially this spring. I am so heartened that even during these unprecedented times, when we are unable to meet together physically, this community still comes together to support one another and to provide practically for the needs of our church and for the broader community in which we serve. Our worship and service opportunities may look different, but Gathering Church, you are faithful in your generosity.THANK YOU! One of the challenges of not meeting together physically has been the need to find new ways of giving as we aren’t passing the “offering plate”. Our preferred way to receive donations is now via e-transfer to donations@gatheringchurch.ca. These e-transfers are automatically deposited (so you don’t need to worry about a password that I need to guess) into the church’s bank account. If you have never sent an e-transfer before and would like some assistance setting that up via your bank’s online portal, I am happy to guide you through it. You can also arrange a member-to-member bank transfer if you bank at Kindred Credit Union by calling the bank staff. There is also the option to donate via Canada Helps (link is on our church website), although a service fee of about 3% is taken from the donation. If a cheque is an absolute must these days, please contact me. Adding the e-transfer option appears to have filled the gap for people who would normally write cheques. Here is a breakdown of how our donations are being received: |

In April, we received almost 53% of our giving from e-transfers, and donations from cheques have been reduced from 58% to 11%. The following table provides information on revenues for the first third of 2020. (January through April)

Donations for January-April 2020 amounted to $67,584 which is only about $600 below contributions made in the same period in 2019. Your continued support has enabled us to make good financial decisions that benefit our pastors/staff and our ministry opportunities. Again, thank you for your continued generosity in a time when some people’s financial situations will change. May we, The Gathering Church, be remembered as being generous in these uncertain times.
