This Week: Church @ The Acres

We will meet again at Hidden Acres for a time of worship and connecting.

Our new Fall series is called Reentry and it focuses on themes important to a healthy return. We recognize that we are yet in the earliest stages of that return, that it is not a 'normal' fall kick off. It is different because we do not yet know what new looks like, and it is different because we are different.

There have been things we have celebrated that others have missed, people and things we have lost that we have grieved or are still grieving, things that have changed in us and in our world. We begin this series with the theme of celebrating.

Ellen will bring a children's moment, and children will remain with parents for this week.

Rachel will lead a youth break out time during the service.

Reentry Series Overview:

September 12th - Celebrating: although it has been an incredibly challenging time, what has been good and worth celebrating?
September 19th - Grieving: the things that might have been but couldn't be & what we have tangibly lost
October 3rd - Changing: what are the things that have shifted & changed in us as individuals and corporately?
October 10th - Dreaming: about how to carry out our mission together.

Important Notice from The Gathering Church Board

The Gathering Church will be holding a brief Membership Meeting after service on September 19th at Hidden Acres. The main purpose of this short meeting will be to nominate and seek approval for a new board member. The board is nominating Jenny-Lee Dippel for the role of Treasurer.

Our current treasurer, Meredith Bingham, will step down from the board and assume a new role of Finance and Accounting Liaison and continue to manage the day-to-day financial responsibilities of the congregation. The aim of this change is to better share the large number of tasks and responsibilities placed upon the current Treasurer role.

Snack Attack Update

We’re pleased to announce that Snack Attack will begin again in September. The program will be held on Wednesdays from 2:45 to 4:00. We will return to greeting children on their way home from school by having tables spread out around CMCC from which we’ll give the snack packs. You are welcome to join in the fun. This is a time of checking in with the children and adults, encouraging one another and providing healthy snacks after a busy day at school.

We hope to begin on September 15^th. We’ll keep you posted!

Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp is hosting its annual Fall Seniors Retreat on Sept. 20 and 21. Join us virtually on Sept. 20 to explore the topic: "Journey Toward Justice: Equal Rights for Palestinians and Israelis" with Christian Peacemaker Teams and MCEC Palestine-Israel Network. Then gather outdoors with us at Hidden Acres on Sept. 21 for an informal time of connecting with each other and some of our resource people.
