This Sunday we enter into the Lenten season.  Lent invites us to slow down, to pause, to let our lament and challenges mingle with our hope and praise.  In Lent, we journey with Jesus to the cross.  We see the shadows and we look forward to the Light bursting forth.

Join us this Sunday as we begin our Lenten journey together as we encounter Mary and Martha on the days following their brother’s death.

Join us next Sunday as we continue journeying through Lent, bringing our full selves to Jesus.

Last Sunday, we participated in a creative activity which invites us into a spiritual focus in Lent. Those gathered each made a Flat Jesus. Throughout Lent, we are invited to take Jesus us with us. To the arena, school, work, grocery story, family gatherings, on a walk, beside us as we read scripture, to youth group or on a road trip. Give thought to what it is like to invite Jesus into your activities.  Extend a blessing of Jesus to those you are gathered with. Remind yourself that Jesus is with you all the time. Engage in prayerful conversation with Him. Invite Jesus to open your eyes and heart to what He sees as He journeys with you.

We are encouraged to take pictures of “Jesus with us”.  Please send those to Catherine (catherine@gatheringchurch.ca).  Stories of your experience are most welcome. 

This is a simple way of reminding ourselves that Jesus journeys with us and that Jesus invites us to be a blessing to those we meet along the way.

Please save Sunday March 8^th for our AGM. We'll enjoy pizza lunch following our morning worship and then hold our AGM. Childcare will be available. 

We invite you to be in prayer as we look forward to this important date in the life of our church. During this members' meeting, the board will present several motions including our 2026 budget and the proposed addition of Rich Janzen as a new board director. The 2026 AGM agenda will be sent soon.

On Sunday March 1^st, Hans and Jutta are celebrating their 68^th wedding anniversary. 

To celebrate this milestone, Hans and Jutta extend an invitation to The Gathering Church to join them in an anniversary luncheon following our morning worship service on March 1^st.  Hans and Jutta are generously providing a pizza lunch and a special anniversary dessert for us to enjoy together.

We hope that you will join in this time of blessing and honouring Hans and Jutta.

Our next High Schooler’s Supper is Tuesday February 24^th from 6:00 to 7:30.  These suppers are a wonderful time to get to know the youth of Chandler Mowat through the sharing of a meal, conversation and playing games.  We hope that you will join in this time of showing God’s love.

Our Vision and Care team members serve the church through offering prayer, care and wise leadership around our vision.  The Vision and Care team members are:  Marlene Hoekstra, Frank Hoekstra, Gloria Lebold, Doris Maiolo, and Alisha Nafziger.

The Leadership Board brings prayerful leadership to our faith community, meeting monthly to ensure we fulfill our mission and vision and faithfully oversee the many areas of ministry of The Gathering. The members of the Board are: Wazir Ally,  Craig Nafziger and Chris Pot.
