"I would like to take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to Rachel Morton for all the fantastic work you have done in the Administrative Assistant role for The Gathering Chuch! Your jovial and optimistic work attitude among your peers has been wonderful.

You are truly an inspiration to the staff and church. Keep it up and we wish you a safe journey and all the best with your mission trip to The Czech Republic.

Our sincere thanks once again on behalf of The Gathering Church, Board and Staff.

Wazir Ally,

Board Chair, The Gathering Church"

Hey Church,

I of course wish I could look out at your smiling faces and deliver this news and say my goodbyes, but alas, we are in strange times. Times that have had me waiting and wondering if the plans I had made months ago to live and work in the Czech Republic this year would come to fruition. But here I am with the miraculous praise report that the situation in CZ and with international travel has lifted enough for me to do so. I will be leaving mid-august and coming back next summer.

What am I doing you ask? Some of you may remember that I made a similar trip a couple summers ago. It is from these connections that I am able to go again, and this time live and work full-time alongside the missionary family that I know there. There are a lot of opportunities for ministry teaching english so I will be doing that, as well as a  being a part of the leadership team for a choral singing group for youth. I will defeinetly send updates to you all :)

God ceases to amaze me, and I am beyond excited to begin this next adventure. If you are interested in supporting me feel free to email me at rachelkatmorton@gmail.com

Love,

Rachel Morton

Grocery Cards

As a way of sharing God’s love to the Chandler community during Covid, The Gathering has contributed grocery gift cards to be distributed at Thursday Food Distributions.  Please watch the video below from The House of Friendship, the organization we partner with on Thursdays.

We invite you to join us for this week’s Popsicles and Porch Visits with our friends in the Chandler Mowat community.  We’ll meet on Thursday August 6th at 6:30 in the Chandler Mowat Community Centre parking lot and spend an hour visiting and enjoying popsicles with the community.  All our welcome.  Please let Catherine know if you are able to join in.  (catherine@gatheringchurch.ca)  Another way to join in is through prayer.  Prayer for meaningful conversations and a spirit of hope.

Catherine is available for spiritual guidance and care conversations and looks forward to speaking with you!  Over the summer months she will no longer be using Calendly to schedule conversations.  Please send her an email to set up a time for a conversation.  catherine@gatheringchurch.ca

We regret to inform you that due to ongoing COVID concerns and restrictions, we will be cancelling our planned Church @ the Acres for August.  While Hidden Acres is not open for large groups, it is available for camping.  This would be a chance to support a wonderful ministry and enjoy the great outdoors.

Come and Camp at Hidden Acres!

This summer Hidden Acres is offering campsites for families to book! Come and pitch your tent or park your trailer and enjoy this sacred space! For details or to book a site go to www.hiddenacres.ca or contact the camp at info@hiddenacres.ca or 519-625-8602.

Camp@Home (www.campathome.ca) is a one-of-a-kind camp experience that allows children to make genuine camp connections online. Campers log-in to their online cabin, join their virtual counsellors, and enjoy 2-hours of programming each day using an interactive camp map. "Pay What You Choose" options for pricing are available.

NEW! E-Transfer Option

Support the Gathering at this Important Time!
As we experience social distancing we are also distanced from our weekly reminders to support the church with your generous gifts.  We believe in the call of gospel to reach out to our communities with love and care, and we are as committed as ever to find creative ways to do that in this season.

New this week, I wanted to highlight the ability to now donate via e-transfer using donations@gatheringchurch.ca.

We sincerely thank you for your ongoing support of our mission and ministry.

COVID -19 Update

Church over the Summer: Our current summer plan is to continue online worship and sermons throughout the summer. The Community Centre has decided to remain closed over the summer and so we will not be able to resume worship in person at the Community Centre. Catherine is also spearheading some creative ways to remain present in the Chandler community each week. We will be reassessing as new information comes out and keep you up to date as soon as we know more. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Pastor Steve on behalf of the Board.

Update on regulations around 10 people gathering while observing social distancing regulations.

"Effective Friday, June 12, 2020 at 12:01 a.m., the province will increase the limit on social gatherings from five to 10 people across the province, regardless of whether a region has moved to Stage 2."

As we responsibly work with new regulations there is now the possibility for groups of 10 desiring fellowship to meet together if they observe social distancing rules.  At this time leadership is not prepared to coordinate these groups; however, if you choose to meet feel free to email me for some sample questions to help facilitate your gathering.  Or, your group could choose to discuss the Questions for Reflection that are posted each week on the sermon page.
