During the month of May we will hear from and participate in the ministries of MCEC and MCC. 

The Gathering Church is a part of Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (MCEC) which is a diverse community of faithful churches seeking to live out the mission of:

     Transformed by the love of God
     Inspired by the hope we find in Jesus
     Called to action by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Join us this Sunday as Norm Dyck, MCEC’s Missions Minister, will share with us from Jeremiah 29 with the focus on Next Door as it is in Heaven.

Next week, Stephen Roy from Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) will share stories of God’s impact around the globe.

On May 24 and 25 you are invited to join in serving with both MCEC and MCC at the New Hamburg Relief Sale.

Good News!  Caden is home from the hospital.  Please continue to pray for Caden as healing continues.

Greetings, Church!

Following is our congregation’s financial update from Q1. Our budget for 2024, as approved at the AGM, is $227,695. At the end of Q1, we had received 19% of our budget through donations.

* NOTE: Expenses were comparatively higher in this quarter compared to last year.  This is mostly due to our ongoing renewal process with Credence, the clothing drive shopping (Jenny-Lee is so skilled at catching all the big sales), paying our church insurance as a lump sum rather than in monthly installments, one community supper, and the addition of part-time paid roles – cleaning, nursery, and a finance role. We continue to have cash reserves to carry us through shortfalls in giving as needed throughout the year.

Many thanks for your generous gifts of time and finances.  Together we are living out our mission statement both within the congregation and making Jesus real to people through our church’s presence in Chandler Mowat neighbourhood.  Thank you for doing both so beautifully.

Snack Attack is our weekly ministry of providing healthy snacks and encouragement to the children and youth of the Chandler Mowat community each Tuesday from 1:30 to 4:00.  You are welcome to join in serving!

This year’s MCC Mennonite Relief Sale is May 24-25th.  We as a church will be popping/selling kettle corn once again. Volunteers will be needed throughout the weekend, please consider serving through this wonderful event.  Contact Laura Ally for more details.  lauraannally@gmail.com.

**Public health this year requires at least one person to hold the food handlers course certificate, please let Laura know if you hold that or are willing to take the online course.

We cherish the joy and spiritual renewal that comes from gathering together on Sundays. We also value rest and refreshment for all and therefore this Spring and Summer we will not be meeting as a gathered congregation for morning worship on Long Weekends.

On these specific dates (May 19th, June 30th, August 4^th) all are encouraged to:

• Enjoy a slower rhythm
• Take a worship walk through nature
• Engage in personal reflection and prayer practices
• Enjoy fellowship with family and/or friends
• Visit another faith community

We will continue to celebrate our Jubilee Sunday on September 1^st as a Sunday of rest and of celebrating God’s goodness.

The Leadership Board brings prayerful leadership to our faith community, meeting monthly to ensure we fulfill our mission and vision and faithfully oversee the many areas of ministry of The Gathering.  The members of the Board are:  Wazir Ally, Andrew Jantzi, Rocco Maiolo and Debbie Wagler.
