Clare spent his career in education, combining his love of teaching Physics & Math with administration as Principal at Niagara Christian Collegiate, Fort Erie, ON. In 2007, Clare retired from NCC as God opened doors to new ministry in the role of Interim Lead Pastor or Pastor of Congregational Care in numerous Brethren in Christ churches throughout Niagara. In 2013 he and his wife Gloria moved back to the Kitchener area, making The Gathering Church their home church while continuing to take on interim pastoral roles in the BIC. Clare is excited to see how God answers prayer, how He works through His church, motivating and leading people into areas of service as they become the hands and feet of Jesus in their communities and around the world. God has called us to make a difference in our world, and as followers of Jesus we can! Clare is also deeply humbled to be giving interim pastoral leadership to this group of vibrant Jesus followers at The Gathering Church.
Clare finds that time in the garage on a woodworking project, a game of tennis or golf, or a swim in the pool are great ways to reclaim perspective on life. Music, photography, singing and playing the guitar, reading and friends also help bring joy to most days. However, he and Gloria particularly joy in spending time with their four grandchildren and children. What a great way to remain young! And yes, Clare loves to laugh, even if it is at himself.
If you have questions about faith, are looking for a place to put your faith into action or simply desiring a group of friends with which to worship and grow, come check out The Gathering Church. Clare may not take you out for a coffee (he can’t stand the taste), but he would enjoy the chance to talk over a tea or a hot chocolate at TIMS.
