Overview:

This morning we will move to another ‘C’ posture. That of CREATING.
We were created to participate in the creative work of the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.
As Andy Crouch encourages: “Our best response to the world is to make something of it.”
Made in the image of God, we are called and empowered to be active contributors to our culture.

Scripture:

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 2:26-27

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth,  and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

John 14:12-14:

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."

Matthew 5:14-15

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”

Colossians 3:9

“For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.”

Reflection/Discussion Questions:

 1.    Where are we already at work doing the ‘good works that God prepared for us in advance to do'?

2.    Where might I respond to the nudging of the Spirit to begin a new act of creation this week?

Eg. A Letter to my member of parliament, a craft that expresses your love for someone, a video to teach something that you are passionate about, a song to express how you’re feeling, a business plan to firm up that inner dream you’ve been holding, a family adventure to form a new memory of togetherness, you might ask to lead a new small group for the church and use your passion for teaching and God to be creative, and on and on.
