Ephesians 6:14-17
Imagining our New Year with the Holy Spirit

Overview

In the January’s of our lives many of us take inventory of where we find ourselves, and where our spirits and hearts are calling us to move into in the coming year.
For this meditation, I challenge us to invite the Holy Spirit into an Prayerful Inventory Excercise, using the metaphor the Apostle Paul gave us of the Armour of God.
As we examine each of the pieces of the Armour of God, we ask the Spirit to reveal areas in our lives requiring extra attention.

God calls us to be both actively responsible for our spiritual growth as we pursue righteousness, and also dependent on His strength and grace to carry us, transform us, and make us like Christ.

Scripture

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
~Ephesians 6:14-17

Reflection Questions:

1.  How has this interior spiritual inventory affected your ability to listen for God’s Spirit?
2.  Will your thoughts and commitments lead you to any practical changes this week?
