Empowered - Presence

Overview

Sometimes God leads us into a wilderness before bringing us into our promise.
Sometimes we have to wait before we go.

This message talked about how all we have to do to drift from the presence of God is...

nothing.

It takes intentional action to remain in Christ, and the good news is that in Christ, we can experience His empowerment for abundant life!

Scripture

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
~John 15:5-6

Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.
~1 John 2:16-17 (Message version)

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. ~John 14:23

Questions for Reflection:

1. How would you describe your posture towards God as He desires to be present with you?

2.  What is something you regularly do that you're pretty sure isn't helping your mental state, maybe it's even hurting you? What could you do each day instead of that thing which would help you BE in the presence of God?
