Waiting on Seeds of Hope

Waiting Guide Video

Overview

In this fourth sermon in our Seeds of Hope series we explore waiting.

What does waiting do?

For one, it reminds us that its okay to wait.
That we are not our anxious thoughts, we are not our feelings about what is happening that we don’t like, nor are we our to-do-lists or busy work.  We live, and move, and have our being beneath all of these things.  We will learn that waiting leads to perseverance which in turn produces maturity.

Scripture

“For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.  In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.” Romans 8:24-26

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ~James 1:2-4

"The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the Lord. ~Lamentations 3:24-26

Reflection Questions.

1.  When you think of waiting do you think it is 'nothing' or 'something'?

2.  When is a time you have had to wait for something that really mattered to you?  How was the experience, and what was the result in the end?

3.  What seed of hope are you waiting for now?  What might the waiting be growing in you?
